Sam joined BYLD in early 2017, following a successful legal career as a commercial and civil litigator which began in New York City in late 2007. Finding himself at the epicentre of the global financial crises he gained valuable and highly sought after litigation experience representing various types of clients in the Chrysler LLC, General Motors Corp., and Lehman Brothers Inc. cases. A Toronto native, Sam moved back home in 2011, and worked as a civil, commercial and insurance litigator for four years at a preeminent National law firm prior to joining BYLD.

Over the years, Sam has represented individuals, corporations, and partnerships in various commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters. He’s also represented insurance companies in various types of insurance defence matters including product liability, motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall, and subrogation.

Prior to practicing law, Sam obtained an MBA and worked in his family business as a furniture manufacturer, designer and retailer which gave him a strong foundation in the areas of finance, operations and strategy. Sam prides himself on being able to use his experience to add value for his clients by being a “problem solver” and someone that understands the practical realities of running a business on a day-to- day basis, having counseled clients of all sizes and from a wide variety of industries on various corporate, insurance, product liability, real estate and insolvency/restructuring issues.

Sam completed his J.D. at New York Law School, and holds a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
